A self-taught abstract expressionist since 1995, she paints with instinct, emotion, and an unapologetic sense of freedom. Michelle Renée doesn’t follow rules—she breaks them.
Texture is always the beginning, but where each piece ends up is anyone’s guess. That unpredictability—that moment when the unexpected takes over—is what drives her.
Her work is collected in 16 States and lives in both private homes and commercial spaces throughout Arkansas. It’s also part of a permanent collection at the U.A.M.S. Breast Cancer Center and the Central Arkansas Library (Main Branch)
She has held numerous solo exhibitions, most recently at the Argenta Library in 2022 and 2024.
Every piece is a dive into chaos, color, and connection. Renée does not follow a rigid, repetitive style—instead, she thrives on experimentation, using various techniques and materials to bring her visions to life. Every painting begins with texture and evolves intuitively, guided by feeling and curiosity.
“I paint because I have to,” she says. “There’s no other way to say it. My work is a conversation—one that begins in silence and ends in recognition.
